Introduction
The update of the S3 guideline Prevention, Diagnostics, Therapy and After-Care of lung carcinomas, published in the year 2018, comments as follows on the PD-L1 testing:
“Testing for PD-L1 expression“
“In NSCLC, a correlation between the PD-L1 expression detected in immunohistochemistry and the reaction to a therapy with monoclonal antibodies aimed against PD-1 or PD-L1 has been proven in various studies. For this reason, immunohistochemical examinations are to be carried out on the question of a PD-L1 expression and the outcome stated as a percentage of tumor cells positive in the membrane (proportion score).
